FAQ - Medical
What makes Glytone glycolic acid different than any other glycolic acid line?
Glytone is different because we use Free Acid Values, and we are the only company to communicate on this value. The free acid value is the exact amount of acid that will be available for use by the skin. If a product says “4.7 Free Acid Value”, it means that exactly 4.7% glycolic acid will be available for use by the skin. There are no buffering agents in our products.
Are the products non-comedogenic? Will they make me breakout?
For specific pathologies, Glytone products are non-comedogenic.
Is there any data showing the efficacy of the products?
Yes, for certain treatment concepts, efficacy and tolerability are documented by clinical studies.
Why are certain products reserved for professional use only?
Certain Glytone products contain high levels of active ingredients that are only appropriate for professional recommendation.
What effect does prolonged sun exposure have on the skin?
Prolonged sun exposure to the skin can lead to heavy premature wrinkling, severe hyperpigmentation, skin laxity, and skin cancer. Sunscreen is the primary protection against sun damage.
What causes wrinkles?
Internally they are caused by a breakdown of collagen and elastin that are responsible for keeping the skin taught. Externally wrinkles can be caused by overexposure to harmful UV rays as well as environmental assaults of free radicals.
By using AHA products does this increase sensitivity to the sun?
Yes. Alpha Hydroxyacid (AHA) products do increase sun sensitivy, so make sure to use adequate SPF daily. Always consult a physician when using products that contain AHA.
Can I use Glytone products while pregnant or nursing?
There are no published warnings, consult your physician directly.
Is there any downtime after a Glytone chemical peel?
No. Our peels are safe to use with minimal side effects. Always consult with your physician for your post-peel regimen.
